According to an old myth the ancient Egyptians

would sing to the lotus flower at the Feast of the Lotus. During this feast guests would hold a silver pot, shaped like a lotus flower with a burning candle in the middle.

Guests would head for the Nile, with the pot in their hand and a dream in their heart. It was believed that if the flame continued to burn for the duration of the meal their dream would eventually come true.
